Over the last several years, NOAA has ceased updating most Raster navigation charts.  But -- paper charts are not being retired – NOAA has actually made them better.

On January 17, 2025, at 6:30 Captain Phyllis Woolwine of Shearwater University will show powerful techniques for using electronic and paper charts together to allow skilled piloting on the Salish Sea and anywhere in the world.  Bring your tablet or laptop to allow hands-on learning experiences

• Benefits and limitations of paper charts and electronic charts – including growing threats to GPS functions
• Hands-on tutorial for using NOAA’s new custom ENC chart tool – a powerful resource that combines the best of both worlds
• An integrated approach to plotting and piloting routes
